In this Fernandina Beach crawl space, shifting soil caused the home's support system to weaken over time. The picture shows the uneven ground and temporary blocks trying to hold up the structure a clear sign that the floor system was losing stability. Without proper support, homeowners typically begin to notice soft or bouncy floors, sticking doors, or cracks appearing inside the house. Once we exposed the weak areas of the crawl space, our team installed SmartJacks, a steel support system designed to stabilize and lift sagging floors. Unlike temporary blocks or wooden posts that shift with soil movement, SmartJacks are anchored on engineered footing and adjusted to apply upward pressure restoring strength to the floor system above. You can also see the drainage matting being laid out, which will allow moisture to move toward the sump system once encapsulation is complete. This is the moment the structure starts gaining real, permanent support.
With the SmartJacks in place, we installed a full crawl space encapsulation system to lock out moisture and protect the structure long-term. The heavy-duty CleanSpace vapor barrier seals the entire ground and support piers, preventing humidity and damp soil gases from entering the home. This creates a conditioned, controlled environment that keeps floors warmer, reduces odors, and helps prevent mold and wood rot. What was once a damp, unstable crawl space is now clean, bright, and protected.
To complete the project, we installed a new airtight crawl space access door. This keeps outside air, pests, and moisture from entering the encapsulated space protecting all the work done inside. A proper crawl space door is a small detail that makes a big difference in preventing humidity and energy loss.
Here, our team installed helical piers to stabilize the foundation and stop further settlement. You can see the brackets secured beneath the footing, transferring the weight of the home to stable soil deeper underground. After installation, we patched and sealed the exterior to protect the structure and leave the area clean and secure.
After stabilizing the foundation, we carefully backfilled the area and restored the exterior. The ground is smoothed and ready for grass to grow back naturally. This final step ensures the home not only feels more secure but looks clean and cared for from the outside.
