Inside the home, large cracks running through the ceramic floor tiles point to underlying foundation settlement. This movement causes uneven pressure beneath the slab, leading to visible breakage and separation in the flooring. These symptoms signaled the need for a thorough structural inspection and foundation stabilization to prevent further interior damage and restore the home's stability.
To correct the settlement causing interior floor damage, we installed a helical pier along the exterior wall. This screw-like steel pier is advanced deep into stable soil, creating a secure anchor point for the home's foundation. By transferring the structural load to solid ground, the helical pier halts further movement, restores stability, and protects the home from future cracks and uneven flooring.
Before installing the helical pier, we carefully removed sections of the patio pavers to reach the affected foundation area. This step allowed us to excavate without causing unnecessary damage to surrounding surfaces. Once the pier installation was complete, these pavers would be reset, restoring the patio's appearance while ensuring the structure beneath is fully supported and stable.
Alongside the foundation repairs, we installed a new PVC drainage system to redirect roof runoff away from the home's base. This system ensures water is efficiently carried to a safe discharge point, reducing soil erosion and moisture buildup near the foundation. By controlling excess water, we help maintain the stability provided by the newly installed helical pier and prevent future settlement issues.
The new PVC drainage system was securely connected to the home's downspout, creating a seamless path for rainwater to be carried away from the foundation. Surrounded by protective gravel for proper drainage and erosion control, this setup helps keep the soil around the home dry and stable working in tandem with the foundation repairs to ensure long-term protection.
