Beneath this Jacksonville home, the crawl space shows scattered debris, loose soil, and signs of shifting along the perimeter wall. To combat excess moisture in the crawl space, we installed a high-efficiency sump pump system with a battery backup. Connected to interior drainage lines, this pump actively removes water that enters the crawl space, directing it safely away from the home. The battery backup ensures the system continues operating during power outages, offering year-round protection against flooding and water damage.
Inside the crawl space, we installed a SmartPipe drainage system designed to capture water at the foundation wall and direct it toward the sump pump. The orange filter fabric prevents sediment and debris from clogging the pipe, ensuring long-term efficiency. This system works continuously to keep the crawl space dry, protecting the home's structure from moisture damage and mold growth.
To manage excess surface water in the yard, we began installing a French drain system with a catch basin. This setup collects rainwater runoff and channels it through underground piping, directing it away from the home's foundation. By intercepting water before it can saturate the soil beneath the crawl space, this system works hand-in-hand with the interior drainage to maintain a dry and stable foundation.
With the French drain fully installed, the catch basin is now seamlessly integrated into the lawn, ready to collect and redirect water away from the home. This finished system not only protects the foundation from water-related damage but also blends into the yard for a clean, low-profile look ensuring both functionality and curb appeal.
