The crawl space of this Fernandina Beach home was left exposed, with bare soil and fallen insulation creating an unhealthy environment. Without a protective barrier, moisture and humidity could easily seep in, leading to mold growth, wood rot, and poor indoor air quality. Addressing this problem was the first step toward creating a healthier, more protected home.
After our team's work, the crawl space was fully encapsulated with a durable vapor barrier lining the ground and support piers. This sealed system locks out ground moisture, reduces humidity, and helps protect wooden beams and insulation from mold and rot. The transformation creates a cleaner, healthier environment while improving the home's energy efficiency.
To manage excess water around the home, our crew installed a buried PVC drainage line connected to a discharge outlet. Gravel was placed around the system to improve filtration and prevent clogging, ensuring water flows smoothly away from the foundation. This step helps protect both the yard and the newly encapsulated crawl space from future moisture problems.
A new downspout extension was installed and connected to the buried PVC line to carry roof runoff safely away from the home. By channeling water directly into the underground drainage system, this setup prevents pooling near the foundation and reduces the risk of moisture seeping into the crawl space.
As the finishing touch, a new crawl space access door was installed to seal off the area from outside moisture, pests, and debris. Together with the encapsulation and drainage improvements, this door helps maintain a controlled, dry environment inside the crawl space while keeping the home better protected for years to come.
