The crawl space was damp due to open vents and a dirt floor. Open vents allowed outside air, which often carries moisture, to enter the crawl space. Additionally, the dirt floor contributed to the dampness by allowing moisture from the ground to evaporate and rise into the crawl space, creating a humid environment conducive to mold growth and other moisture-related issues.
